Technical Designer

We are in need of a full-time technical product designer with demonstrated experience working closely with product and engineering teams to deliver functional and delightful UI/UX solutions. Preferred (not required) skills: Sketch, Lottie, & Information Architecture.

Trace Company Overview

Trace is ushering in a new era of truth and transparency for the cannabis industry. For decades aspiring hemp professionals have been kept in the dark, Trace illuminates. Using cutting-edge blockchain technology, Trace provides a platform for businesses and consumers to verify basic information about the provenance and current state of hemp products from soil to shelf.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Build killer OS and Android native apps
  • Adopt and enhance the Trace brand style guide, translating it to a series of workable symbols for our digital products and a series of assets and templates for our internal and external communications efforts
  • Work with the development and product teams on a daily basis to iterate on and solve daily technical product needs

Skills & Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in a tech-focused creative role and at least 2 years working for a digital product as its product design lead
  • Strong abilities with Sketch, Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, and at least one prototyping and animation tool such as Principle and/or Lottie
  • Enjoys visual animation and can easily translate static wires and designs to elevated, animated motion designs and user experience flows
  • Demonstrates exceptional previous work consisting of shipped products which illustrate a strong understanding of software processes and user experience
  • Has a drive to understand the user, conduct user testing sessions, A/B test designs, and take a data driven approach to implementing UI/UX adjustments
  • Has read and is familiar with all standard best practices such as Apple’s Human Interface Guidelines or Google’s Material Guidelines
  • Demonstrated expertise with contemporary native and web digital interface conventions
  • Is interested in learning new tools, pushing the team forward, and keeping your practices up to date
  • Is extremely comfortable working with technical and product stakeholders, iterating rapidly, rapid wire framing, and team communication
  • Thoroughly communicates, can articulate ideas well in spoken, written, or visual mediums
  • Carries a professional attitude, welcomes new ideas and approaches new tasks with an open and creative mindset
  • Is confident with building web products with a focus on mobile-first responsive views
  • Pristine sketch files and a knack for organization and precision
  • Penchant for Web, UX, branding, iconography, and animation work
  • Is technically inclined with an ability to understand lean, iterative development efforts, scaling your design suggestions to meet technical criteria and deadlines while always keeping in mind the best UX
  • Is a strong communicator and are able to visually translate ideas with the product team in order to visualize diagrams, workflows, edge cases, wireframes, and prototypes.
  • Strong experience with agile development teams
  • Is always focused on the user and proposes creative solutions that challenge and evolve the status quo
  • Has a fundamental conceptual understanding of blockchain and decentralized applications
  • Is willing to learn and to work with the design challenges of this technology
